I'm new to the forum, hope this is the right place to post my question. I replaced the pads on my 04 XLT 4 wheel dr. Now the pedal is spongy and although it stops, it goes to the floor. Any hints on how I screwed up by just putting new ceramic pads on??

Thanks in advance for the help

Replacing the pads shouldn't affect the feel of the brakes. It sounds like you have air in the lines, you might want to try bleeding all 4 brakes.

I would blame it on the pads not being seated yet, before I would think you magically got air in the lines.

Or it could be the pads not seated yet...

Though I've never had that issue when doing brakes, and my explorer likes to eat brakes. :p

I've never used them, but I've heard that ceramic pads can take a while to seat.

How did you get the piston pushed back into the caliper, if you opened the bleeder screw and then pushed the piston back in there is a chance that you got air in the system....

We just pushed the pistons back, did not open any bleeders
