Brake Rotor Specials From Explorer Express!

what should be done 1st?

John or any other brake experts. I know the front brakes usually wear a lot more than the rear. I want to get a least a pair done and the other pair later down the road. So would should I go ahead and order the fronts? And for having one done, I should not have any issues with using slotted/stock (slotted on front/factory in the rear)?

p.s. mine is 2WD

No problem, it will not be a problem. You put the slots on the front now and do the rear when you need to.

John how long of a wear life can we be able to expect out of these rotors? Also can these be turned (cut) if needed?

Thanks.

These rotors will last a good amount of time, I had them on my supercharged 400RWHP mustang and with Open track events I would have to stomp on the brakes, needles to say they lasted over 40K miles with HARD driving. On an Explorer Id think they would last you a LONG time. As for them bein resurfaced, I dont think you can do it, but then again I dont think you will need to, if you change to new pads with the rotors and bed them properly, you should be just fine ....

i ordered mine monday, and hopefully they'll be here by end of this week, i cant wait! also, where on this site (or others) is a detailed procedure on removing the rotors? the haynes manual has nothing about the rotors. thanks! John V, your the best!

these two threads are confusing the hell outta me... I thought for awhile that my posts were missing...they are screwing with my head. ....the worst thing is i get replies from both, and that messes me up even more. copying threads with numerous replies and then posting them in another forum shuld be outlawed. new posts dont end up in both, and that **** is confusing when they have the same titles.:)

The haynes manual does have a description on how to take off your rotors man. Just look under the brakes and steering section in the table of contents and it should be right there. Just make sure you're looking at the right year;)

ah, there it is....hmm

stupid UPS people...i was supposed to get my rotors today (monday) and the driver couldnt find a STATE HIGHWAY. so, now i have to go pick the up at the Will Call window....::sighs::

E-mail sent to you John ...

ive had them for awhile now. they are mostly for show. if you have rims you will like these, they wont rust out. the stock ones were just a bucket of rust after 20k. the slots tend to fill up with brake pad crap. so you might have to clean them every so often. i dont notice any difference in stopping power. i have the rotors and performance friction carbon metalic pads.
its just like any other apearance mod. if you have a nice truck and you need new brakes, might as well get a good pair of rotors that will look good also.
