okay well i was changing my brakes once and i noticed my steering knuckle was chipped at the top where the inside brake pad is held. (passenger side) so my brake pad would slide up and whatnot and i would be left with my caliper piston to stop. now i tried a sheet metal shim for now but it moves with the brake pad a little bit and hits the rotor and its really loud, creaky, squeaky and screetchy. so i was wondering about my options, which ive considered... 1. swap out the steering knuckle, which seems like the likely one. 2. try to make a better shim. so thats where im stuck at, and also when i first changed the brakes there were silicone on the pads to the pistons so im not sure if that might work. but im open to any ideas that anyone might have?

dang...i would start w/ trying to make a better shim. it would be cheaper than replacing a knuckle

well the shim i 1st made was only a corner piece where it was chipped then i chose to make one the entire length of the brake pad, which lasted longer but still fell out.
