Hopefully this is enough of a crisis situation as to remain in the 911 section, I wasn't totally sure after reading the special rules.

Truck is stuck in park (2001 Sport trac 4x4 job 2) after disconnecting linkage and putting the trans in park manually, I was able to drive home, but with the inability to go over 35 without overrevving the engine. Truck starts and runs but upon depressing the brake it refuses to shift, after some experimenting, I discovered that if you push up on the plug attached to the brake pedal, with the key on acc, the shift lever is unlocked. Can anyone help me with maybe a method of" jumping" or bypassing the switch? I have a class later today with a final I cannot miss, as well as a possible date with miss virginia, and this is my only mode of transportation. Please help.

Can the brake switch be bypassed?

Thanks in advance.

brake light

first check fuse for brake lights, then check brake light switch. you can turn key on one notch, with out turning on power and it will come out of park. start and go. if stop light system is ok, will need to replace lockout switch. olemech@verizon.net
