Ok so my dad changed the front pads on my 99 Sport, 4wd, 74000, about 9 months ago while i was gone. I noticed about a month ago it was pulling very badly to the right at all times. Then i started hearing a clanking when going over bumps. I pulled off the front driver side wheel and the caliber was just hanging there. I really appreciated my dad doing this but he is 63 now and isnt the mechanic he use to be. He forgot to put the caliber bolts back in and its been hanging there ****ed sidways for months. I just got some new bolts and put it back on and it seems fine now but i have a persistent squeal. It is bad when i apply the brakes but also while moving and accelerating up to about 40mpg. A guy i work with suggested wheel bearings when he rode with me but i have never done those before and dont know how to check or what to look for. The pads are in good shape still but the rotor is little chewed up. Could the pad just be worn uneavenly now and sqealing on the rotor without the brakes applied? Pease help

Yes you need to replace the rotors & the pads. The caliper bolts have a tendency to come loose so don't blame dad.

It would be best to replace both front rotors.

As for the wheel bearings if your sport is 2wd you can replace the bearings & races. If its 4wd you have to replace the whole hub. The hubs run $150-200 ea.

Ditto Dan...

Replace the rotors and pads.

Don't blame dad. These bolts come loose. Use a little lock-tite.

Sorry for the late update. Been working long hours. I just replaced the pads, rotors looked ok. Truck is tip top now. Thanks for the help.
