I'm new to the forum and was wondering if anyone can help me with a few issues

I have with my X. I have a 93 EB with 78k on the clock and whenever I step on the brakes my truck shakes so much I feel like I'm having a seizure!! Also, my ABS light comes on every so often (sometimes when I'm not even moving, I don't even have my foot on the brake)
I've replaced my brake pads and had my rotors turned.
Any suggestions??

Thanks

Sounds like the rotors may be warped. I don't think having them turned will fix that.

Also, sometimes when I brake hard I hear this really loud BANG from the front end. Any ideas what that can be?

Thanks again

The bang from the front end when you are braking hard sounds like worn radius arm bushings. It can be quite noticeable when braking, which leads many people to think it is the brakes; actually its a front suspension part that is worn, it's a rubber bushing.

The rotors need machining; and if that's not possible then they should be replaced.

Yup, sounds like rotors and front bushings. crawl under the front end and look at all the end links and bushing. If you are not mechanicly inclined take it somewhere and have it looked at. But I think you can handle it!

Also welcome to the site!

Do a search on brakes...someone was doing their rotors themselves last week and I think he ended up having no difficulties. There are only one or two tricks, and since you may have to get new rotors anyhow, which is what it sounds like, its a pretty simple way to save yourself some cash. I did my fronts a year ago and have had no probs. best of luck

what about the ABS light? would warped rotors trigger that light or is that something different??

Yes, it might trip the ABS light. Since the rotors are not perfectly flat, they will catch, then slip, then catch again. This will make the computer think the wheels are skidding abit and might activate the AB system.

thanks
i'm going to take a look at it this weekend.

ABS light

With the ABS light, there could be a lot of other causes for it's activation, too:

dirty wheel speed sensor
stuck ABS pivot valve
air in brake lines
vac leak in brake booster
