Brighter lights in reverse??

I have just got the back windows tinted in limo black, I love it, but the wife complains that she cant see when backing up. Its true - it's a little dark. Are there replacement bulbs for the back up lights to make it brighter than the stock ones?? If not - maybe I have to install some seperate lights on top or something?

I ordered mine through Explorer Express. They were replacement bulbs. I think they are 50 watts. They improved my night view a good bit. I haven't had any problems with them being too hot. My tint is only factory. This is the easiest way to go. Other options include adding a separate set of lights under the bumper. You can get cheap ones at Autozone.

I run a combination of 50 w bulbs in the stock backup lights as well as a set of fog lights under the rear bumper. The lights are wired into the reverse circuit.

This conbo does a very nice job of illumination.

I am currently doing a reverse light mod on my Ex. They are going to be mounted to the furthest back part of the stock crossbar on the roof. Dead Link Removed

I would recommend getting an actual wiring harness then modifying it with a 3 way switch. Making one is a huge PITA.

I bought my 50watt backup bulbs at Pep Boys for $6 apiece on sale... thay work great for everyday use. I have a set of Blazer fogs mounted like Digger196, except mine are mounted on the bottom of the plate so I don't rip them off on trees and crap...

Fricken' awesome posts here guys. I like what Aldive has done, it seems that it wouldn't create much of a drag - and it they wont be ripped off when I run two tracks with all those trees! So Aldive - was it tricky to install them???

I just looked at the link at explorerexpress. The reverse lights they are selling are rated at 20 watts. I thought I needed the big 'ole 50 watters????

The install was simple. Drill the mounting holes on bottom of rear bumper. Then run the wires to the drivers side taillight housing. Ground the negative lead to thye frame and splice the positive into the wire for the reverse light. Thays it......They work great.

Have you ever launched a boat with those. I was thinking of putting mine in/on the bumper but was affraid to ruin the lights if they are submerged...

I am putting mine on top, using my Auto/On/Off schematic which is truely one of the biggest PITA I have done wiring wise.

No, I have not launched a boat; my boats are too big to trailor.

However, why would the bumper get wet when launching?

Sometimes you have to back down the ramp farther, to get the boat off the trailer. It depends on the ramp and the tide.

Yup, Only we don't have tides in Colorado. LOL

I finished mine. They are on the roof. I will post some pics tomorrow.
