broke driveshaft

can a awd x be driven without the front driveshaft?? i have a broke u-joint and i would like to drive the truck into the garage but not if it will cause damage to the tranfer case. i havent tried to move it yet but i thought i might ask if it can be done or not....thanks for any help....

Yes, I drove around w/o a front shaft for almost a year, I was going to be putting in a new t-case though, but it never stopped running when I did it... I also know another guy that did it for about a week while having a driveshaft lenghtened...

thanks for the info.... my family is full of ford heads and i do remember that the old 70's model full time four wheel drive trucks would not move without the front drive shaft inplace so i thought maybe this maybe the case here even though this is a totaly differant transfer case than the old ones....but anyways i didnt want to damage the transfer case even though im gunna get rid of it soon for a 2wd swap.....thanks again....
