I kind of like the artist rendering of the new Bronco. If it looks like that I'd be happy. Retro yet new looking at the same time.

It was before but maybe since the new style is unibody (no truck frame) you can't really call it a truck.

Ranger and Bronco has been know for well over 4 months. The 3rd is an Aviator and there will all be a Lincoln version of the Mustang (2 door coupe).

I love how magazines post stuff that has been already posted months ago as if they were the first to mention it.

there will never be a lincoln version of the mustang. Know why, because I want one. or wanted one. now I want a RWD, Sedan similar to the continental but that's another pipe dream to compete with the caddy Ct family.

meanwhile the new ranger setup as shown in other parts of the globe is a decent looking device - outfitted with the right gear to take on the colorado and I'd look hard at one. specifically if they rigged a hybrid version. no I don't need it to tow 10K lbs it's not a full size truck, hell It doesn't have to tow 5000 lbs and my damn 4 door family car can do that.

You can buy Rangers right now. They never went away. Just considered too small for North America. I would imagine the Bronco is going to go the path of the Raptor for aesthetics (retro-futuristic). I can see demand for a redesigned Ranger here.

The smart money will be on working towards proper electric vehicles with actual range -- none of this hybrid nonsense. Something that might compete with Tesla Model X or Audi Q6 Etron.

I'd like a 200 + mile range ford fusion as my DD but till then - I'm OK with a hybrid with start stop - especially for something more utilitarian as a truck

Actually there will be, it is slotted for MY2020. The 2018 Mustang is getting a mid cycle refresh, power bump and the 10 speed with the 5.0. Boy I am so tempted!!!

I think I'd prefer the ecoboost 3.5 mill like what will be in the raptor and the 10 sp but either way I will drive one. want to see how that 10sp wakes it up.

Technically you could buy one in Europe and ship it to America... but that would be stupid expensive, double taxes, etc. Or wait until they relaunch them here If I wanted a small truck, I'd get the new Honda Ridgeline -- actually pretty cool car with neat features.

Also the 10 speed transmission is overkill. Why can't Ford just adopt the ZF-8? Best transmission ever.

Kind of hard to say it is overkill without driving them. The 10 Speed is fantastic in the super duty and I'm sure will be equally awesome in the other vehicles they are putting it in.

I can see the 10 speed being useful for a machine that can benefit from the extra torque -- real off road vehicles, heavy duty trucks, etc -- but the efficiency/complexity tradeoffs are far more problematic for road cars (everything from sports cars to the Explorer). Basically it'll spend too much time shifting and losing power. The 6-speeds are okay, but a bit clunky. ZF-8 is really the perfect balance, even better than the 9 speeds they are putting in the Mercedes lately. The 10 speed transmission feels wrong and the added complexity will make it prone to failure.

I'd much rather have the 10 than a CVT. ideally I'd have the solid 8sp in the front and a shiftable rear axle or some flavor of overdrive in the prop shaft so as to have a set of 8 speed with better weight distribution.

but I r wierd like that. doesn't of course do squat for the FWD setup - but that needs to go back away now. Doesn't the ZF-8 have all sorts of issues for the dodge and other chrysler devices?

I thought I had read somewhere awhile back that the issue wasn't so much with the ZF-8, but with the the Chrysler software running it. I think they then struggled to come up with software updates to correct it.

Yup, it was software programming, not hardware but there were a ton of issues with it
