Brown wire mod question

I have a 98 XLT. If I do the brown wire mod, what effect will it have on my 4x4 high and 4x4 low. Does it stop my 4x4 all together ? Is that why I need to put it on a toggle switch ? Does the auto 4x4 cause my explorer to jerk when it goes up steep hills ? Mine jerks alot, I've heard the auto 4x4 may cause this.

I dont know about the jerking, but the BWM ( brown wire mod ) will effect the 4WD when it is in the open position. It basicly disables the 4wd.
When closed, every thing will function as normal.
