brush gaurd and a body lift

ok im sure this has been covered before, but couldnt find much of anything in a search. im looking at doin the 3" PA body lift but i have a brushgaurd. the guy at 4wheelparts said they can custom weld it in the correct position for $100-$150 bux (depending on the brushgaurd i have). my question is what options are available to relocate a brushgaurd after a body lift and how did yall do it?

How you relocate it depends on what brushgaurd you have. I was able to relocate my old brushgaurd by cutting the brackets that mount to the frame and the tabs off of the brushgaurd and then fabbing up new brackets and welding them to the brackets that mount to the frame. It's kind of hard to explain but i was able to cut about 8" out of the bottom of the brushgaurd and since i dont have a front airdamn the brushgaurd only hung down an inch below the front bumper.

i'd also get a small metal shop to do it. they weld better than anyone at 4wps and cost you half that much for doing something like that.

I cut the bumper mounts off the front of the frame, welded a 3" block on top of the frame, welded the bumper mounts on to the 3" block, then measured 3" up from the mounting holes in the frame and drilled them into block. Now everything mounts to the block and sits 3" higher so it all lines up perfectly.

Unless you're an experienced welder, get a metal shop to do it for you.

im not that experienced of a welder (ie no experience) so ill take it to a metal shop. the blocks ontop of the frame sound like they will be the easiest. i want the brushgaurd to remain "bolt on" in case i want to remove it. thanx guys
