The lower radiator hose burst and the truck ran hot, fixed hose but now has water getting pushed out of the radiator so i know the heads got to come off. Does this seem like a cracked head or more like a blown head gasket? No milky oil only light smell of antifreeze from exhaust.I have the heads off my old motor but i think one of them is bad also , so if 2 check out good and two check out bad Are the heads on the 95 explorer left right inter changeable? cause if two of them are good does it matter if they came off the driver side or passenger side?also I have all the tools to take the heads of except the torx head head bolts what is the size torx bit i need to get?

Inspect the heads closely or have a shop clean them up and look them over.

gonna get the gasket set but what size is the torx bit for the heads?

Im pretty certain its T55, as I just performed the taks a couple of months ago.

Also, the heads are interchangeable from left to right.

Be very careful with the heads as a machine shop might not find the crack. I replaced mine with aftermarket heads, and for the first time in my exploders life its not sucking any coolant at all.
Not sure, but you might want to just consider replacing both heads with aftermaket and being done with it.

I'm on a budget of $500 to do this job myself, the machine shop is one that my uncles garage deals with all the time and he is only charging me $25 to check the heads for me so i got my fingers crossed that its just a head gasket and not the heads cracked, but even if they are cracked i found some heads from a guy that gurentees thats not cracked for $100 apiece and if i have to buy them i still will have them checked out at the machine shop before i put them on.

beautiful! You have your bases covered.
