Within the next few weeks im planning on putting a skid plate on the front of my X that goes from the bottom of my brush guard to my crossmember. I currently have a temporary piece of steel there to protect my tranny cooler lines... its bolted to the brushguard and welded to my crossmember (as shown)
For my skid plate i was planning on connecting it to my brush guard in the same fashion, but im not sure about my crossmember. I was under there looking and not sure how you guys bolted to it without drilling.
If everyone with a skid plate could post a pic or two and some comments on how they did it that would be great. It'd be nice to get all the tips for skid plates in one thread... then maybe we can have a moderator put this in the "usefull threads" section (where there is currently this but many of the pics have been lost. And we need some new techniques...Dead Link Removed )
* I plan on taking detailed pictures and doing a nice write-up at the end of this too.
Lol: so far the only materials i know i need is
-1/8" thick plate of steel (not doing rock crawling so i dont need 1/4" thick)
EDIT: this one will be how to do it without a plow to bend the metal. Im working with a welder, a sawzaw, and a good drill. hence, tools that anyone can come across. I was thinking if welding a bracket to my crossmember so i can bolt the skid plate to that- but pics of current ones would still be cool.
