has anyone else smelled a burning smell from the black rubber door seals? I really notice it when my Explorer is sitting outside for a while. I have smelled it recently but didn't know what it was until I started sniffing around and its definitely coming from the seal.

You are the first member to report this on the Forum. I have no idea why the door seal should emit any kind of smell other than possibly a faint rubber smell up close.:dunno:

Thanks. Yeah, its weird. I just went out there to smell it again and its still there and will get worse the warmer it gets. or maybe it's if the sun beats on it. Not sure...

While I don't have the "burning" smell, I do notice a strong plastic smell and it is either the weathertechs or the seal as you suggested.

I have an appointment on Monday I'll let you know what he says about the smell

I have noticed this burnt rubber smell inside my explorer. Definitely not coming from anywhere in the engine. While trying to find where it might be coming from, I noticed that all my door seals smells burnt rubber. Does anybody knows what caused it? Thanks

Has it always been that way? It doesn't seem to be a widespread issue since you are only the 2nd owner to report it in this forum.
None of the others in this thread are active here any longer. Maybe this will result in others posting here.

Yes, it has been like that.
