I have a 96 XLT and im tired of the Control Trac telling the TC that it doent need to be in 4hi. Ever time i need it , it disengages. And there is no need for 4low! IS there a way to get rid od 4auto and make it 4hi? I did a surch and came up with nothing usefull! Can someone help??

The T-case works off an electromagnetic clutch. In 4auto it only engagesthe clutch and sends torque to the front when the rear wheels are slipping. Not bad but 4Hi would be a good option. In 4lo the GEM the controls it will lock up the electro. clutch and shift to the low gears. There has been talk of finding the power line going into the T-casse that sends voltage to the clutch and rigging it so it will send 12V to in while in 4auto and then you'll have created a 4hi mode. I haven't tried it and don't know if anyone has yet - Just a thought.

Are you sure nothing's wrong with the 4wd system? I like the 4 auto and never have had any problems with the limited slip or the front wheels not spinning when they needed to be. Also the 4lo is definatley needed when seriously stuck or trying to pull out someone else who is :p

Well I know that the 4wd system works and there is no problems. I went home to MI For X-MAS and it worked flawless. There was snow and ice. Only had one problem withit taking it sweet time enguageing. But I cam back to Ga( in the Military) And i slid into a ditch when making a u-turn. It was really slick grass but It didnt seem to go in like it should have. I had to put in 4low to get going. But the 12v lead sounds like an Idea Can you break it down and tell me how to do it.
