Any one out there put an engine oil bypass filter on their Explorer? I have a 96 4.0 ohv with all the standard under hood equipment and can't find a spot to mount one, top side or under. :banghead: I am usually pretty good with this stuff, but I'm stumped. Pics would be nice but a good description would get this project off the ground. Thanks in advance.

i thought this was gunna be a question asking about the advantages of the "kalco engine block oil bypass kit" lol

How about inside the front bumper? Would probably help a bit with cooling too.

Got it done last week. Mounted it to the cross bar half way down the radiator on the driver's side. Had to remove a little of the plastic air funnel near the battery. It's in the air flow and helps with the oil temp. Very easy to do, hopefully I can get another 100 out of it. (thousand that is)

Ha ha I just emailed you Al. I found a perfect spot for it. What was so hard about mounting this is, one: it's big, two: ease of access, three: secured and safe from damage. I originally had it mounted on the radiator support. That was junk install. I found a great place for it which fulfilled all of the above. The crossmember right behind the power steering ram worked awesome. I had to mount it horizontally using only the larger of the two brackets but it's a killer mounting location. The run of hose is short and direct, nothing will touch it ever, even if you high centered, super easy to access, and its close to the ground with no abstructions to the oil drip pan when changing filters. I'll see if I can post a pic. I should really send this suggestion to Amsoil for thier install tips.

I recently bought a Ralph Woods Bypass Oil Filter this week and just got the package. Now I have a question is the location of the filter mounts. If any of you have those bypass filters and found a mounting place.. can you post a pic or PM me for details... I plan to install it on my 97 Explorer but first I want to ask any of you for ideas and pictures. If you havent heard about Ralph Woods Filter, here is information website: http://www.bypassfilter.com
