I have been trying to see the difference between these 2 setups and other than the price and the airbox. I can't tell which is better? Has anyone had both or can someone offer some input on which is a better investment?

know sway vote? I take it they are the same?

I would go with the K&N because with a box, there is still air restriction. The K&N doesn't have that restriction. The downside though, is that the K&N heatshield is ok, whereas in a box, the volant, acts as a better heatshield. I have a K&N and love it. It's up to you. Also, if you go with the K&N, you can call them and just get the airfilter, heatshield, and the airfilter to tube adapter thing, instead of getting the whole kit, which saves you i think 100+ dollars. But if you did that, you would use your stock tube.

I have the K&N too. I love it. Awesome sound under the hood, and I'm sure this is varied but on the SOHC they've dynoed approx 8HP improvement. The Volant is supposed to drop the intake tube lower and shield from heat better, which should result in more HP because of the cooler air being brought in. But I have never seen any tests on it myself, and if you're planning to off road you want your intake as high as possible for water crossings.
