Where is it located at on the engine? Haynes manual tells how to set but does not give location.

Not all explorers have one. It is located on the back side of the engine, where the distributer would be on a 350. it you have one there will be a plug with three wires that connect to it. If you don't have it, there is just a cap over the hole, nothing will be extending off hte block.
