on my 1999 SOHC, I performed the camshaft tensioner / intake manifold gasket repair recall, exactly as recommended in the recall, including inserting a 5 inch nylon flow restrictor into the oil galley - it sounded and ran great until oil started pouring from the vehicle - I guess I'll do the job over and remove the restrictor, unless anyone has a better idea about what the problem might be - I can't even see where the oil is coming from - I can't find an oil pressure relief valve anywhere on the engine - does anybody have a clue? - thanks

My guess would be that the new tensioner is not seated on the washer properly or the new restrictor plug is leaking.

that's the funny thing, I really can't see where the oil is coming from - I took off the upper manifold again and the camshaft tensioner and oil galley plug show no signs of leakage - I am wondering if the restrictor increased the oil pressure to the point where the pressure relief valve opened, but the manuals don't show a pressure relief valve - all I can see is that the bottom front half of the block is soaked and the engine had lost about 3 quarts - it wasn't leaking, it was pouring out - a mystery

after further inspection, I wonder if the engine oil cooler or the hoses connected to it are leaking - can't see much of it and Alldata doesn't cover it
