Hi everyone, looking to pick the brains of those who have done the Screamin' Demon coil pack mod.

I have read extensively many of the old threads regarding this mod, and have decided that it will be one of the next coming down the pipe for me. What I was wondering though, since I have been using the E3 Diamondfire spark plugs for a while, could these be regapped to the recommended 0.065", given the more complex shape of the electrode tip? If not, which plugs are recommended for use with the new coil?

Thanks for any help with this!

I don't know how well those plugs work in the sohc motor, but they are brutal in the ohv v6 and 8. Maybe someone else will chime in with a sohc that has experience with these plugs.

I've been using them for a year and a half and love them. I was only asking about the possibility of altering the gap to suit the addition of the Screamin' Demon coil.

I doubt it

I have no first hand experience with them but from the design I doubt the gap can be controlled without a special tool. Personally, I don't think they will last any longer than my obsolete Champion Truck Plugs with copper electrodes and not as long as plugs with rare metals on both electrodes.

The second generation ignition system is a waste spark system with plugs on one bank firing from the center electrode to the outer electrode and plugs on the other bank firing from the outer electrode to the center electrode.

That's why only dual (platinum or irridium) are worth the extra money. I prefer dual copper with thick electrodes.

Actually, it's the Bosch plugs everyone complains about.
They were run in my OHV engine for 5 years, the Bosch +4 ones. No problems and they came out looking great.
I guess people just have bad luck..

Thanks for the informative reply StreetRod, I'll probably switch to an NGK iridium or equivalent once I get the coil in there. Much appreciated, and love what you've done with your rig!
