can I ditch the overload spring w/aal

I'm hopefully going to install my add a leaf this week and was curious as to whether I need to keep my overload leaf in when I re-install it. Seems like it wouldn't serve any purpose other than to bring the shock mounts that much lower, and to lower the whole pack? Does this sound logical? thanks!

Some run with them, some without, if you do not tow any then you can go with out.

Yes, mainly for towing purposes, like a boat or trailer.

ditch em. the aal's add a lot of stiffness anyway. you will never need em unless you are pullin a big trailer with the cargo area full of junk.

So you guys are saying that if I remove the bottom most leaf, AKA the "helper", it will not affect the height of the truck?
It sounds as though if you are installing an AAL, then it would be best to remove the helper spring for shock travel purpose?

Is this accurate?

if you are SUA if wont affect your height wether you have an aal or not, but your shocks will be compressed about .5" more than stock. If you are SOA then it will lower your truck by .5"

And with the AAL installed the stock helper becomes usless and you only lower your shock mount with it on. The helper is there for stock people who have no AAL installed to help while towing, but with the AAL there is no way you are going to flatten it.

Ok, sounds good, hoping to get my AAL's tomorrow or Thursday, so I'll be putting them in, taking off the helper, TT, then...appointment on Friday at 0900 est for 4 31" Pirelli Scorpion A/T's
