Have the opportunity to get a 97 Eddie B with a slipping transmission and no back window in it. Close friends with the owner. If for some reason the rebuild is a little steep on price, is there any way to swap the tranny from my 93 sport in? Both are 2wd. Anyone done this?

Have PM'd Glacier already, but decided to open this up for discussion.

no, not without some major work....

they might bolt up, however the later model trannies were computer controlled, and computers cant control stuff that doenst have the sensors or hardware to control it

I agree with Jim, you could bolt it up, but you would have major issues with the Engine Control System. The 97 PCM is expecting to see a transmission with shift solenoids, Turbine Shaft Speed sensor, EPC solenoid (controls line pressure) etc.

In addition, the 97 5R55E trans has a lot of upgrades compared to the 93 A4LD. You would be better off finding another 5R55E.

Thank you. Well I have some nice leather seats at least.
