my taillight turn signals have and call for according to the manual 3156's. i replace the middle light however that are stock 3157's with red 3157's b/c they look so much better with my altezzas when they light up. they are completely red instead of a little orangish or light red when they light up. i want to do the same for the turn signals but finding a red 3156 bulb is like finding a needle in a haystack. 3157's on the other hand are a dime a dozen. thanks.

i think you can use a 3157 instead of a 3156, i think the only difference is that the 3157 is a dual filament as 3156 is one

i just don't want to burn anything out or blow a fuse or something. i don't think it would be a big deal, just not sure.

3156 and 3157 are not interchangeable. The 3156 bulb has a single contact in the center of the bottom, and the locating pins are parallel to each other. The 3157 has two offset contacts on the bottom, and the locating pins are offset, with one of the pins higher than the other.

well so much for that. thanks dave.
