can you change the solenoid block without pulling the pan?

I have a 2003 explorer that I had the converter replaced and they said they replaced the solenoid block too but they never touched the pan so I think someone isn't being honest. Please tell me if they could have gotten to the solenoid without taking the pan off. Thank you

The pan must be removed to access the solenoid block on the 5R55W.

Welcome to this forum! They have to drop the pan to replace the filter anyway if they removed the transmission to replace the torque converter.
