99 4.0 OHV...I think I have gone crazy!!!

I cannot, for the LIFE of me, find either the EGR valve OR the DPFE sensor!!!

I've looked EVERYWHERE, it's like they're just not there!!! I swear!!!

On my brother's 98 mazda 3.0 you pop the hood and it's right there.:eek:

The DPFE is right below the IAC.

The EGR is down further (yes the DPFE is off in this pic):

JL...great pics...I have 1 problem, though...

On my upper manifold there's NOTHING there but 3 holes (where the DPFE is supposed to mount?)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is NO EGR valve below where the DPFE is supposed to be.

Is it possible someome could have removed these sensors?

I have had a pinging problem since I bought the truck...

I'll get some pics...this is crazy!!!::confused:

Yes its possible they were removed. I have no idea why some people think it will help performance to get rid of the EGR system but some people do.....

The computer would have had to be programmed to delete it too or you'd have the MIL on.

Whether or not an EGR is present on a particular vehicle/engine/year combination depends on whether it was needed to meet emissions for that combination.

99 Rangers equipped with the 2.3 and 3.0 have EGR.
99 Explorers all have EGR regardless of the engine option.
However, a 99 Ranger 4.0L does not have an EGR system.

Thanks a ton...you have preserved my sanity!!!
