cant find a sound HELP!!!!

I have a rattling sound coming from the front half of the explorer almost sounds like a heat shield,but i checked none of them are loose,what else could it be? sounds like some place under the passenger side header idk ? thanks for the help.

the best way to find these kind of rattle is to have somebody sit in the drivers seat, start the engine, put it in drive, and hold the brake, than get down and find the noise,
it is probably the heat sheild, but it might not make noise in park, or when the motor is off, even if you hit it with your hand, ,
 






I have a 97 Mounty 5.0 - with an exhaust rattle that took me weeks to locate. It was the rear (downstream) oxygen sensors being loose about 1/2 turn. The previous owner must have replaced them and left them hand-tight. They are a pain to get at. Located between the first and second set of cats, facing up tword the body from the exhaust in the area of the transfer case.

It would rattle at idle and worse again around 20-30 MPH - really loud and annoying. I spent a lot of time under there tapping on things with a rubber hammer and cursing. Have the neighbors convinced that I am nuts now, but the rattle is gone :)
