Ok
I have a 99 XLT 2wd 5.0 67kmiles

When I Brake completly and come to a stop there is a clunk(like falling forward) and a second noise releaseing the brakes

I replaced front brake pads...everything fine in the brakes
I replaced the transmission mount...still there
Ive replace all 4 ball joints up front (needed to anyway)....still there

The noise only happens at a complete stop
no noise or jolting upon acceleration or going into reverse...

dont know what else to check

I have the same noise cant figure it out

It's the tranny seperator plate when its shifting down, mine does that as well. Does it sometimes clunk when put into R?

its not downshifting....
it can be in first and going slow and come to a stop....
shifting and downshifting is fine...no clunking to reverse

Sway bar bushings? Shocks?

Yeah Im going to use lithium grease on some bushings and when I can afford it I will put new shocks on just cause being 10 yrs old....

wouldnt think the ebrake setup can make a clunk noise lifting off the brakes....to loud for a loose cable under pressure also...might change out rear pads and inspect those calipers next...

same problem here, i was told that it was the inner tie rods knocking around, i am getting myne replaced next week

really....do you know if they can be moved around a little on the ground

the mechanic i talked to said to follow the outer tie rod all the way up to an inner tie rod and grab it and see if it wiggles. mechanic said they wont get any worh they will just knock around because they are loose but will need to get replaced. the way he diagnosed the probem is he went down a road at about 40 or 50 kmh and turn side to side really fast and the knocking was severe, which then he said they needed to be replaced.

Hope this helps

I am replacing mine in a couple of weeks (well everything uppers lower bj's and inner/outer tie rods) I will let you guys know if its gone. Mine could be from the front end I took a good look yesterday and everything is shot so might be the problem.

Im getting it checked out today....

so I'll post any findings...

Try greasing the slip yoke. Those are known to cause clunks when stopping because the bind up a little bit.

I was told it was possibly just the movement of the shaft....what king of grease to put there....

also found a bad wheel bearing so replaced both up front...

Where did you go to get it checked out?

My Mechanic that I use....

he was also going to grease the back of the brake pads like ford did on these models...

Grease the slip yoke as mentioned earlier. That might be it and its easy and cheap.
