Hey there,

I don't exactly know what it is but because the code starts with a B, it will probably mean its body related (where as a P is for the powertrain). There are some B codes that are emission related but the error must occur on two consecutive runs.

BTW, are your front turn signals working properly?

Yeah they're working. I'm going to have to get a new multifunction switch sooner or later though because it does smoke sometimes. Why?

Just checked the service manual... all the Bxxxx codes are GEM DTCs. Couldn;t find one for a B0800 though.

Where did that code come from?

-Joe

There is no b0800. The b codes start at 1213 and go to 2477

There is no b0800 or bo800 reference in alldata.

A smoking switch could be a fire hazard. Check to see if there is a racall. A lot of Fords have a recall on the ignition switch.

It's the multifunction switch. Very common problems on second gen explorers.

My Scanguage pulled it when I got a check engine light. It pulled a couple others with it, P0171 and P0720 which is running lean and something else.

I found this while looking for a b0800 code thought it might be handy:

Anatomy of OBDII (DTC) Diagnostic Trouble Code

A DTC is made up of 5 digits. The figure below demonstrates the composition of a DTC. With this information it is easier to trouble shoot DTC without knowing the description of the code.

Example P0101

1st digit B-Body, C-Chassis, P-Powertrain, U-Network

2nd digit 0-SAE, 1 mfg

3rd digit 1 Air & Fuel Metering
2 Air & Fuel Metering (Injector Circuit)
3 Ignition System or Misfire
4 Auxiliary Emissions Controls
5 Vehicle Speed Controls And Idle Control System
6 Computer Output Circuit
7 Transmission
8 Transmission

4th & 5th digit - two place fault code 0-99

B0800 Device Power#1 Circuit Malfunction!

this site has a great resource table for all codes!

4wheelnoffroad.com -> trouble codes -> obdII B0 trouble codes

Thats where this came from. Now, I have no Idea what it means but thats the code

P.S. Alldata doesn' t have "all data"

If you are still having issues I can plug up my MD-1000, that sucker is pretty comprehensive.

PM or E-mail me

I cleared the codes and so far they haven't come back. Now that I think about it I think the same codes popped up maybe a year ago and I cleared them and it took that long to come back. So maybe it's just some random thing.

good news
