My horn stopped working some time ago. I had it in at the dealer doing the tire recall and they verified that the horn was bad. Since they failed to balance my tires after replacing them, I don't really want to take it back there. But I can't locate the horn anywhere. I've got the Haynes guide but it doesn't mention anything about the horn or where it is. I've searched through the posts here and only one mentions that it's under the battery. I feel 'naked' driving around in rush hour traffic with no horn to defend myself. Can anybody help? BTW it is a 98 XLT.

yank the inner fender out on the drivers side. Its under the battery basically. I swapped mine out with a Hella airhorn and it was Hella hard to get it in there..

BajaX, How do you like the Hellas? Are they Hella loud? People can't seem to resist cutting me off on the 94 and the stock horn doesn't give enough of a wakeup!

Ok, I got it. Basically there's two bolts that need to be removed to be able to pull out the inner fender wall. Then you must remove the battery to get at the bolt holding the horn bracket. I needed a swivel extension to be able to get at it. They're a real pain to get at.

Yeti-
The Hellas are nice. Ive transfered it from my last 3 cars!
they are LOUD and definitely get the attention of the slowpokes and grey hairs..
My wife likes it so much I even put one in her car.

I'm gettin' one htis weekend!! Thanks,

are we talking about the hella air or electric horns?

BajaX said they were airhorns above. I just want LOUD.

How much?

How much money do they cost? Easy to install or should i take it to someone? Thanx

What is the model of the horn in question?

Do you have a pic of your installation?

Thanks....
