Can anyone tell me what's wrong? I also notice my car slides out of park very easily? Could these problems be related?

I took apart the center console and looked at the shifter. I noticed the plastic is a little bent which might explain why it slides out of park without having to push the button anymore? I could be wrong?

As for the key, I can't get it out unless the battery is disconnected. Is there a fix for this problem? What's causing it? I don't want to have to leave the key in the ignition, that's not a safe feeling.

Thanks!

same problem with my sport track 2010 Y have to remove the elctrical plug on the ignition switch to remove the key

If anyone is still having this problem not a bad fix . First remove cup holder .then you will see a pin sticking out of shifter . [they back out ] pull pin out . put a dab of super glue on pin splines . this is the tricky part. locating the hole the pin came out of ,you have to squeeze the shifter lock release this will allow you to push the pin back in , now just wait a few min. for glue to set up move shifter to park pull key out . that's it

Id your shifter on the volume or on the floor
