I've searched the site and can't find any threads on this topic:

The push button on/off/volume knob on the radio of my 1995 Explorer Limited will not stay in the off position. If I hold it in, it turns off, and the power antenna goes down. But as soon as I let go the knob pops out and the radio comes back on. I've now had to replace two antennas due to it not staying down in the car wash. I'd like to fix it before I order the second one.

Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

I have the same problem, but don't want to really spend money to fix that. I just push the button down and shove a folded gum wrapper in between to hold it in place if I need the antenna down...

have you tried a different head unit? it seems that there is a short in the button on that, i'm sure you could get one cheaper on Ebay/CL/Junkyard or such for relatively cheap, i'm not sure if that is the problem, but if you switched antenna's then it's obviously not the antenna.

I know it's not the antenna. The on/off button won't stay in the off position. I need to know if there's some kind of clip or something behind the knob that I can fix. If not, I'll either need a new head unit or just deal with it.

Hammer! Just kidding. Have you looked on ebay for a used one? might be easier and cheaper than trying to go through the repair process.
