I am putting in a relatively expensive sound system in my 2002 explorer and I know it has a factory alarm, but it has never been set off. How do you set off a factory alarm, because if I can't rely on the alarm, I want to buy a new one.

i had a factory alarm all but 3 or 4 days but if i remember correct when the door was locked if you tried to open the door the horn would start honking

sit in the truck, close the door and lock it with your remote. when the interior lights go off hit the unlock button on the door pannel and open the door from the inside. Alarm will sound.
