I had a heavy weight on the driver's side 3rdcrow seat and the carpet was torn. Since then, the seat wont stow or unstow. It appears the carpet acts a a flexible hinge that allows the mechanism to operate.
Am I correct? Has anyone had this happen? How was this problem corrected? Thanks.

Have you compared it to the passenger side to see if the separation is normal or not? It appears that there is another issue as well since the back part seems to have collapsed from it's normal supported position.

Peter, the mechanism is loose because the carpet is not allowing to remain attached. Id i support the torn carpet in it's normal the support bracket stays in place and supports the front section.
