Catalytic Converter Heat Sheild

I've replaced my radius arm bushings on the right side of my 91' EB twice and they keep just disappearing. Recently on a visit to the underbelly I noticed that the bushing on the right side looked like a half burned candle. The bushings on the left side (which are 10 years old now) still look fine. Back to the right side I noticed the catalytic converter convieniently placed about 2" above the joint. YIKES! Any ideas how to protect the bushings from the heat?
