I have a rattle noise from the under the car (2000 Explorer XLT).

Found the heat shield (that attaches to the underbody) above the exhust system is dangling. Looks like the SPOT WELDS let go.

Can I just drive some screws directly into the floor ?

Has anyone had this problem ?

Thanks,

There may be subframe parts you can screw the heat
shield back onto. If not, yes you can run metal screws
into the floorboard. Just be sure they don't come up in
an area where they can poke or scratch someone.

I did this once to add an extra muffler hanger.

I'm gona have to crawl under it.
Wish I had a lift ..........

Thanks for the reply - appreciate it.
