Catalytic converter

I have a 99 explorer. It has 4 catalytic converters. I hollowed out the 2 rear ones but was told 1 of the other 2 front ones are bad. How do I know which one it is?

This topic might not be one that can be answered. Tampering with emission devices isn't advisable. Depending on state laws it might also be considered illegal. Plus if the explorer has a rear O2 sensor, it will 100% throw a code for converter. And again depending on state laws and DMV inspection rules? Can also fail inspection for an active MIL light.

Not saying someone won't answer it, but this is a gray area.
