Do any of you run with a CB? If so, where did you mount the antennae?
I plan to use my Explorer to tow my Jeep YJ and would like to mount a CB in order to stay in contact while in a convoy. I just drilled into the body of my old truck to mount the antennae, but I don't really want to do that to the Explorer since it's in good shape... I would be willing to drill into the bumper though... Otherwise, I'll have to get a magnetic mount and put it on the roof, but I'd rather not- I don't like the way that looks, plus it'll get in the way when entering my garage. Any ideas would be great, and pics would be fantastic!
Thanks.

I started out with a magentic antenna on my roof, but it kept getting knocked off by trees on trails. I now have a 2' firestick antenna mounted at the top left corner of my left tail light. I made a custom bracket from angled gutter supports. It's all galvanized so it doesn't rust. The best part is, it fits in between the tail gate and the body, using the tail light screws...so I didn't have to drill any holes :)

Thanks for the idea! I made up a bracket from 1/8 inch flat stock the other day and mounted my antenna using the brake lights screws. Turned out well, we'll see how long it lasts! Wish me luck!

Good, luck! If you you get a chance, post a picture of your mount. I'm trying to think of ways to make mine stronger.

i have a magnet mount on my roof...with one of those springs so it doesnt get knocked off...tree branches hit it all the time and it hasnt fallen off yet..

Whew, took me a while to get pics... I have some but can't post them. Is it my User CP settings or have I not been on the site long enough to do that?

It's working alright so far, seems solid... I'll tweak it if need be, but I'll wait 'til warmer weather...

Same thing with mine, i'd also knock it into those height signs on the fast food drive throughs.
