The womenfolk have informed me that the "Potluck" dinner we are having at 7-ish pm Friday nite doesn't need to be totally "potluck". It has been strongly suggested that I expand my organizational skills and worry about food for Friday too.

So here's the thread to offer what you are going to bring to the dinner. Include stove, table, etc also in addition to food. First post, first choice on what to bring. Later posters will need to fill in the gaps if certain food groups ain't showing up too much in the list.

I cannot maintain this thread and keep one list that I constantly update like I did on the "ETA" thread, since I am leaving in two days and won't be on the board much. Char, if you want to organize the list and edit it, by all means please do. That's a hint :p

I get first pick :D
One pot of homemade chili (perfect for a cool night); shredded cheese and crackers to eat with it.

Coleman two burner stove; plastic bowls and spoons to use.

I call Ramen Noodle Slaw! Trust me, its my specialty... :) I'm not bringing anything to cook on as I seem to have limited space, but I will have my standard plate with a few KFC spork/napkin/moist towelette ensembles :).

We'll just use your lights to reheat the leftovers.

always there in times of crisis :). Ohw ait though, that might cause the explorer to get a little dirty! Oh wait... :D

I will bring a tossed salad, carrots, salad dressing, and some rolls (about 24 rolls).

As for tables and cooking stuff I won't commit because I don't know how much room I will have.

RobbieJ and I will be arriving around 7-8 so don't eat up all the food before we get there! :D

manifold burritos? anyone? anyone?

:D

ok, ok. I have no idea what to bring.. I'll work on something the next few days that's easy to get from here to there (or buy there!)

Pot Luck

We are bringing a small fold up table, two burner coleman stove and a few pots and pans.

Gerald,
Can the plastic stuff handle the homemade chili ??????

We will bring brownies for some desert and some colesaw.

I'll Herculine the plasticware :D

We'll bring corn-on-the-cob, salt, and butter.

2-burner stove, small propane grill and folding table.

Tom Davis,

A veggie tray would be really easy. You go to the store buy the already cut up veggies in a bag. Then grab some ranch dressing dip and your set. Keep in cooler when transporting! Single guy's dream potluck food. If you don't have a container to put them in, I do. Just let me know.

Got the hint, Gerald.

I'm looking at the arrival schedule and...

There are quite a few people listed as arriving Friday afternoon/evening. I'm just wondering if everyone is looking to arrive for sure before 7ish ??? I'd hate for some people to miss out on the Pot Luck Extravaganza (especially if they're bringing something good...) :)
So... consider this... Howzabout doing the Pot Luck Extravaganza on Sunday evening? (Gerald, don't blow a gasket, it's just an option to kick around...)
Also only two parties are scheduled as departing Sunday evening. One of which is me and Christine. The other is Matt Adams. I know I can stay for dinner. How about you Matt?
As far as the night run currently planned for Sunday night, could we do a night run on Friday instead? Even if it were just back up to Yankee Boy Basin after dark.
OK, let's hear some thoughts... I just wanna make sure we can all make the planned events. Both wheelin' and eatin'...
Warren

actually I changed my mind, I think I'm going to stay Sunday night. Maybe wheel a bit on Monday, though I have to be back to Denver by 5:30 assuming my class doesn't get rescheduled...

Thanks, Char.

Warren, we can move the dinner to 8-ish or whatever. Most that have correspondended with me that will be arriving Friday nite will be there by then.

My reasoning for the Friday nite dinner is that most of us will be loading our coolers with the food and if we eat it Friday nite that will empty our coolers out so we can use them for drinks and supplies the rest of the weekend while out on the trails. For example, I am freezing the chili, using it for "ice" on the trip out, and it'll be gone Saturday so I can restock my cooler for the weekend trailrunning. I don't know how many people would be interested in hauling steaks and stuff around for a couple of days. Many of those coming will be packing for a very long trip with multiple family and passengers and they won't have room for extra coolers to keep at the campground and also take on the trail.

Hope that made sense.

makes sense to me...

Good to hear all will be here in time.
Oh, and I will be bringing
Chili Relleno Casserole.
It is made with green chili. Kinda hot, but not "cry for momma hot".

BTW: Anyone wanting to do some grocery shopping should consider loading up in either Montrose(north) or Durango/Cortez(south) for the best selection and prices. Same with gas.

(for some reason thinking of Gerald's ice chest. I'm visualizing frozen chilisickles, the new trailside treat...)

We could use some more desserts. How about someone bringing some S'mores.

Feeding frenzy!

Ok, apparently I've created a monster with the food. I'd definetly vote for Friday night for the potluck for the same reasons as already mentioned (space, spoiledge factor). I think we'll be in mid afternoon. We are still discussing what we're bringing foodwise here. It will either be some kind of casserole or my world's famous bean dip which can be hot. Seeing as we're pseudo-camping are we tempting fate with the old digestive system and spicey/hot food? Just asking because if I bring the bean dip that could be an issue for folks. I do think we'll come up with a dessert of some kind and bring that along-can always do with a sugar rush. For those who can't live without coffee (like me :bounce: ) do we have a plan to make some? One of us will post tomorrow night on what we're offically bringing after our planing meeting. Looking forward to seeing/meeting everyone! :bounce:

Bean Dip...

Yeah sis, regarding the bean dip, we probably don't want to make this the "Colorado Colors Run-for-the-Restroom 2000"...nor reenact a certain scene from Blazing Saddles... Dead Link Removed:D

I'll be bringing a desert for all to share.

Coffee

Jen, I am bringing my "cowboy coffee" pot and spicing it with hazelnut syrup and milk for creme.

Trust me, the coffee will be great on this trip....
