CD Change in Center Console

Hey Everyone...

Don't beat me up too much, this is my first post on the board

I just got a 2000 XLT and I am looking to replace the Factory CD Changer. I have figured out by doing quite a bit of searching that I can't use the Factory Changer with my new Kenwood HU I have.


So no big deal. I want to know if Kenwood makes a Changer (doesn't matter the disc size) that is an equal replacement for the stock one (ie size). If I got their 6 disc changer, will I just be able to pull out the old one and the new one fit in with no problems?

I would think most changers would fit it the center console. I recently put a pioneer 12 disc in and it fit fine.

I have the 6-pack Kenwood changer in my console and it fits perfectly.

Ecplise 8 disc fits in mine

Some are too deep to fit, so be careful. Hearing that a 12 disc changer fit in a center console is news to me.
Just go to a Kenwood dealer, have one of the sales guys walk outside with you, changer in hand, and see if it fits. You'll of course have to remove that bottom tray thing.

I have a 12 disc alpine in my console. i did have to either take out the plastic deal or just cut off the fingers for holding the cd cases off. I did the latter as a temporary fix. i plan to make a fiberglass dish to hold it but you cant see what i did so it really doesnt matter. There is still enough room to the side so i can put the little zippered book we get with the explorers. as far as keeping the the plastic tray with the cd holder fingers on it good just go on the website for the exact changer you want and get the measurments. then just measure it out in the console.

There's a Sony ES 6 CD Changer on this site for sale. that changer WILL DEFINITELY fit (I almost got it), and Sony ES is top of the line.

Yeah that would work, except that I have a kenwood system.. So I need to look at a Kenwood, but I guess if I can get the dimenisions off that Sony ES and find a kenwood that matches..
