my '02 was stolen and when I got it back my 6 disc cd changer was giving me " cd error" 98% of the time. I noticed that one someone had removed all but one of the cd's. so I took a screwdriver and propped the door open and I noticed that the cd error came right away instead of going through all of the sequences and then giving the error. so I took a cd and propped the door open and inserted the cd 3/4 of the way and started pressing the eject button and wiggling the cd around up and down and to the sides, then I unplugged the fuse and closed the door and plugged the fuse back in. when I pressed the cd button all 6 slots were registering full and then the changer started going through each slot itself and as it was completeing each slot the number in that slot would go out telling us that that spot was empty then it went on to the next slot until all of the slots registered empty, then I pressed the load button and it would let slot 1 load and the same went for the rest of the slots.....fingers crossed all is good now. I think the problem is in the door that there is a button inside on the door that was not registering properly and would not let the electronics register that position.....anyway this might work for you. I think it is a positioning sensor or button inside the unit somewhere between the door and the tray. do some wiggling with it you have nothing to lose....good luck!!
