CD Error

My daughter's 2002 Explorer had the infamous CD Error display on the radio. No response from any CD functions. She brought it to dear old dad today and I tried the "Calibrated Concussion" method of repair.....I smacked the dash above the radio with my fist a couple of times and it started working again. I'm not saying I fixed it....just saying I made it work again. So...if you haven't tried this, why not give it a shot? I told her to play only one CD at a time for a while to see if it was a problem with the multi=player. I suspect I'll be called upon again, but for now I'll bask in my glory!

Sounds like a different method of application yet still related to the metered leverage device, or the sized driver method, also known respectively as the big f'n prybar, and the big f'n hammer.

I hit the dash also to get it to work.
works like a charm. just gets messed up when i want to load or take out disks.

yes... ex-gf had a 2003 mouty... did the same crap.. couple good whacks got it to work. I think someone should write up a Technical Service Bulletin on it. We ended up replacing it with aftermarket.
