first i want to say thanks for all the info i gathered here.this problem had me stummped so i hope this helps someone else.i had to get my tranny rebuilt(2002 4.0 4x4 xlt 120k)it was the servo bores.after i drove it home the cel came on.itook it back and said it was a code for o2 bank 1 sensor 1.the tranny shop replaced bank 2 sensor 1 by mistake. after they cleared the code it drove fine for a while then the cel back on. this is where i realize they changed wrong sensor. i put a new one on also clean my maf. it drives fine for a couple miles then cel is on and blinking it wont run 25mph. im lost i think i got a bad sensor. replace it same thing. i bite the bullet take it to ford dealer. the first thing they do is recall for cruise,then he said there is a pcm upgrade which does seem to smooth out the idle. but my cause is a cut wire on the o2 sensor.patched it up everything is perfect.the best part they only charged 60.00 for everything and the tranny shop paid me back. im sorry for such a long fist post,but like i said this drove me nuts and i hope it helps someone else.
