I have had my console lid vinyl cracking for some time now. I looked on ebay and even ford parts for a replacement as it has become an eyesore. I noticed that the price was a bit more than I wanted to pay. Even sending off my lid to have someone do it was like $40.00. No thanks!

So I did what every American should do in this situation. I did it myself. Total cost was $14.00 with enough material to do two more. I went to the local fabric store and found the closest matching material. It looks and feels like leather but is some kind of vinyl. It took a little time but was well worth it. I think everyone should give this a try. I took some pictures for everyone to see how it turned out. I hope they come out here:

the second close up pic makes it look a different color due to the light. Its almost a perfect color match. If the pics dont come up you can click on this link:

Whatcha think folks? Im sure others have done this before and I apologize if this is a repost.

I origionally covered it with some black vinyl I had in storage but the wife didnt like it. It would have been good if I had gray interior though. She said it looked like a dead finger nail. LOL.

I can't see any of the pictures. I'd probably recover it myself if it went bad too. The worst that could happen is I'd have to go buy a replacement on e-bay, but I would need to do that anyway! It's a win-win situation. Except if your fabric selection was deemed "questionable".

Did the same thing with nice plush black vinyl...
