Change transfer case clutch

Does any one have a detailed description on how to change the transfer case clutch and how much $in parts it is?
 






Not sure how much it is in parts but here are some pics:

Just comparing the difference between a 97 and a 98:

It sits inside the assembly on the left where the main shaft goes through:

Just be careful when you disassemble and reassemble the case because the shift fork rod's end pin can easily snap off:

I wouldn't go ordering a clutch pack yet. I said in your other thread it may be the clutch pack. You need to take the t-case apart and verify that as the problem.

If this is your only vehicle you could easily see what parts it needs and get it back together temporarily in a weekend with the rebuild thread that was posted.

I saw a price for a clutch pack when I was rebuilding my 4405 and it was either $120 or $150 I think. I could be wrong though, I did not need to replace the clutch pack.
