I had to swap out the right side exhaust manifold over the weekend. Typical 5.0 cracked manifold. It actually came out in 2 pieces. With 118K miles, I expected the worst - siezed bolts, broken bolts, etc... Not to mention the total lack of room to work. I must have done something right in a prior life because the total job took less than an hour - from the time I pulled it into the garage to the time it fired it to check for leaks was about 45 minutes. The bolts all came out easily, and everything was easy to get to through the fender well.
I would, however, like to get the moron who designed this manifold and beat him over the head with it. The manifold is less than half the size of the port in the head. It is a wonder that these engines run as good as they do, and I can see why the Torque Monster headers make the kind of power improvements that they advertise. After seeing the design of these manifolds, headers are definitely in my future.
