Just wondering if anyone has any tips on changing the plugs/wires on the 5.0.

Ford wanted $650 to change the plugs and wires.. I said no thanks... what the heck are they trying to pull? Also.. the Ford part for the wires is like $200...

Any ideas??

Mine is a '99 Eddie Bauer 2wd..

Thanks..

I haven't done mine yet, wires are on back order from summit, but when I had the splash guards off to install camber adjusters it looked like there was pretty good access through the wheel wells.

Thanks, I had heard that you could go through the fenderwell.. nice to hear it again.

Which plug wires are those on backorder?

go through the fender wells. jack it up so the tires hang down and take the inner apron off. they will be right there/very easy to get to. $650 TO CHANGE PLUGS/WIRES? ARE THEY INSANE? i know the factory Motorsport wires are expensive, but $450 labor? they must charge like $200 for an oil change...

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Was gone all weekend. I got Holley Laser Shot 50 wires. Cost was about $82. They are a 9mm, 50 ohm set. I did the drivers side from the top without too much trouble and the pass. side from the wheel well. All with no more than the usual scraped nuckles.

thats funny.... I tried to order the Holley wires for my X and they said that Holley never really made wires and dont plan to for the 5.0 X...

I just ordered my custom made wire last friday. Hope they are here today.

Ordered them from Summit online. First went to Holley.com for fit, http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/Products/IS/ISLSSPW/LS50Csuv.html and added the prefix summit uses for Holly. I think the reason they were back ordered was that Summit doesn't stock them. I've done this same thing on other parts to get Summit's price and no shipping. The wires fit great. If I was smart enough to figure it out, I'd attach a phote to prove they exist.
