Question:
I plan on changing shocks, Springs and I wanted to replace the rubber bushing on the Radius6 arms on my 92 ex sport w/104K . Should I replace the rubber w/poly urithane and what type of spring should I get. I would like to keep the ride similar if not a little firmer. Shocks I guess are between Rancho, Bilstein or Gabriel. Any info would help

Thanks

if you plan on doing this soon i suggest you get some liquid wrench or even some wd-40 and spray the nuts that hold the shocks on.....if you don't they'll brake right off the bolt that holds it on to the radius arm, big problem if you can't or don't have access to a arch welder. Ford will charge you up to $80 to replace the radius arms.
And I promise you if your shocks have been on a while and you don't put something on the nuts to loosen them Days before you try to take them off, you will break them. I did this the other day, the both sides on my front. My Grandpa and uncle arch welded a bolt on to the frame in the same spot as the radius arm is and it works fine.
have fun,

Gimp,

Whats involved in changing all the bushings?

Thanks...

Might take a look at Moog's HD rubber bushings through Explorer Express or another reputable store which handles high quality front end parts. I have them and they give a very comfortable ride. Although, if you are looking for the best handling, I suspect the polybushings might be a little better based on the good reports/ posts I have read on this forum. Mike

Maybe it's just wishful thinking cause I had them in, but the poly bushings really seemed to have made all the difference. Hard to believe that a few small pieces made the X ride so much better, but they do!

Hey Gimp:

How are your Monroe Reflex shocks holding up? Would you buy them again or consider Bilsteins? Sure is hot here in central Texas...106 degrees! Thanks, Gimp! Mike

Thanks, Gimp! I have been considering getting new shocks and from all I have read on this forum the Reflexes are performing and holding up well. I strongly am considering Bilsteins too. Some folks have said that a monotube gas shock, ie..Bilstein, Tokiko, KYB, ect..does not give the highway ride quality of a good twin tube like the Reflexes. I am thinking about Monroe air-shocks for the rear as they have a good reputation for durability and I tow a light trailer. Currently I have Tokico shocks and they have over 55K miles on them. They are still very strong and have great control, but always have been a rough ride for my use...mostly highway and towing. Thanks again, Gimp! Mike
