Hi,

I don't know if this is possible, but I wanted to change the way my throttle works. Right now i have the standard peddle to throttle cable to throttle body setup, and I wanted to change it to an electrical system. The reason being is my throttle cable runs against some part of the engine (I think near the throttle body) and picks up engine vibration which i feel through my foot. Tried lots of other fixes and my mechanic suggested I should get used to it, but I'm exploring this as an alternative.

I know very little about cars but it sounds like tps systems use a sensor connected to the peddle which sends a volt reading to the throttle body to open or close. Is this right? Is this something I can do with my vehicle? I have a 99 explorer XLT. Any input is appreciated! I apologize for my lack of knowledge as well.

With my ex I get vibration in the pedal like your talking about, but also in the floor in that whole area. I think even if you converted to an electrical system you would still get vibration. So you might be better off just taking the mechanics advice...

Thanks for the response. I've had days where it doesn't vibrate much and it is definitely just through the peddle and not the floor/firewall. I looked it up a bit more and I think it's called "fly by wire" electronic throttle control. I think 2004 and up explorers got this, is it possible to put in my '99?
