I noticed last week my oil pressure gauge starting a 0 then rising to normal but when I turn off the engine it drops half way then sticks. When I start the engine it uses the "sticking point" as the start and moves up not to normal but 3/4 ways. Now the thing is completely turned past high and is pointing backwards. I had a mechanic look at it and he says it's the gauge. Today I noticed my charging gauge doing something similar. It shows either no charge or goes to normal charging. I had the battery and alternator checked at Autozone and they say it's working fine. Any ideas why it would do this?
