I ran across something on the internet that Chevy used remote filters on some of their vehicles. I went out to my favorite parts place, AKA the junkyard and found a 93 trailblazer with the remote filter located just behind the drivers side headlight. I pulled it and the lines that connected to it. If I would have just cut the lines where they go into the filter block, It would have cost me 5 bucks. Since the lines were attached it cost me 9
The cool thing about this filter system, is it is designed to go inline with a transmission cooler and the lines are identifed on the filter block if you choose to use it that way. Since I am not sure exactly how it works, I blocked off the cooler side so the fluid makes a u turn at the filter block. I got 2 barbed unions from home depot and heate up the aluminum tubes and taped them in. I used some aluminum brazing rod to fill in any gaps. So tel me what you think. Another member(Wood1) said he got one in the form of a hydrylic filter setup for 10 or 11 bucks as well, but I forgot to ask if the filter was special or genaric. Anyway, below is a pic. more to come.
